ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATIONS

BACKGROUND:

"ASSERTIVE" is not synonymous with the word "AGGRESSIVE". Many a monster has been created in the name of assertiveness training. This program concentrates on establishing in the minds of the supervisors that in any human transaction or negotiation, the end result must be WIN-WIN. Many people feel frustrated and angry because they perceive that others treat them with disrespect. These people accept unfair criticism without response, allow others to take advantage of them, and worst of all, when they want to say "NO", they say "YES." They are burdened by the twin frustrations of anger and guilt, guilt if they say "NO" and anger at themselves when they invariably say "YES." It is important that we learn how to communicate in a manner that is clear, concise, and yet is concerned with the feelings of the receiver, though not manipulation.

This program will help the attendees to confidently relate to their subordinates, co-workers, and superiors without feeling guilty, anxious, or uncomfortable.
