ADVANCED BRIEFING TECHNIQUES

BACKGROUND:
Speaking, presenting and briefing are key skills for professionals in all fields. Managers who recognize this need to prepare for platform opportunities want to get feedback from others who practice their skill. Stage fright and other fears hold us back and prevent us for achieving the results we might otherwise be able to accomplish and this course is designed to provide positive feedback that will overcome platform fear, speaking fear, presentation fear and even the fear of speaking to the press.

This course will review the materials previously presented in "Effective Briefing Techniques." Since each of the briefers will presumably have had some real life briefing experience since taking that course, it will allow us to delve into the success or failure of particular techniques, and provide us with a laboratory in which to discuss alternative presentation techniques.

DESIGNED FOR:
Personnel of all levels who must make staff briefings, have contact with the press, or make briefings to supervision. It is suggested that such personnel have taken the "Effective Briefing Techniques" course, or have sufficient years of briefing experience to bring them to the same level as those who have taken the course.

OBJECTIVES:
To give to personnel involved in staff briefings, outside presentations, sales presentations or other speaking activities a sense of confidence and the tools necessary to present their materials in a cohesive and logical manner. This will be accomplished through enhancing their:

  • Presentation Skills
  • Organizational Skills, Speech Preparation
  • Ability to Use Visuals
  • Ability to Handle Questions
  • Extemporaneous Speaking Skills

DELIVERY METHODOLOGY:
Topics will be presented by short lectures, group discussions, films, individual coaching and evaluations through video recordings of student briefings.

TOPICS COVERED:

  • Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Handling the Question & Answer Period
  • Meaningful Visual Preparation
  • Informational Speaking
  • Persuasive Speaking
